Upon arriving in Paro, proceed through immigration, where your passport and visa will be verified. Be sure to carry a copy of your visa clearance letter for a hassle-free process. Note that your visa fee has already been covered and you would no longer require your passport photos, ensuring a smooth entry into Bhutan.

After exiting the terminal, your guide and driver will be waiting to welcome you. From there, you’ll head to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, which could be the only city without a traffic light and trains in the world.

In the evening, take a relaxed stroll through the city. Visit the Tashichho Dzong, an impressive fortress and monastery that houses the King’s Throne Room, the Secretariat, and other government offices. You can also explore the Handicrafts Emporium, where you’ll find an array of exquisite hand-woven textiles, traditional thangka paintings, and other beautifully crafted Bhutanese products. This souvenir emporium is one of the few shops accepting major credit cards. Conclude your first day with an overnight stay at hotel, preparing for the adventures to come.

The Tashichho Dzong is open for tourists from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on weekdays and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends. Tour guide will accompany you for visiting the Dzong.

You can start the day by visiting the National Memorial Chorten, a beautiful stupa built in honor of Bhutan’s third king. It is the most visited landmark in Thimphu. This sacred site offers a glimpse into Bhutanese spirituality and daily life as locals gather here to pray and spin the prayer wheels.

Later, you’ll visit the Zilukha Nunnery, located on the outskirts of Thimphu. Home to around 70 nuns, the nunnery offers a peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking views of the surrounding valley.

Nature lovers would be interested in the Motithang Takin Preserve, where you can see Bhutan’s national animal, the takin. Alternatively, you may visit the Indigenous Hospital, where you can learn about Bhutan’s traditional medicine practices.

In the afternoon, you can also explore the Textile Museum and the Heritage Museum, both of which showcase Bhutan’s rich cultural history. A visit to the Traditional School of Arts & Crafts will give you an insight into the country’s dedication to preserving its traditional art forms.

If time permits, you can also explore the traditional paper factory, where you’ll learn about the process of making paper from the daphne plant. This factory produces a special type of paper, known as rice paper, which is said to be more durable than regular paper. Another fascinating stop is the Zangdopelri Temple, a beautiful structure that took seven years to complete, finishing in 2009 with the support of Queen Kesang Choden of Bhutan. End your day at a hotel at Thimpu

Today, you will retrace your steps back to Paro, after checking in to your hotel for the night, we will drive you to the starting point of the hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery (also known as Paro Taktsang or the Tiger Lair Monastery).

The monastery is named for the legend that Guru Rinpoche reached there on the back of a tigress and meditated in the caves. The hike takes about five-six hours’ round trip, but the effort is well worth it, offering spectacular views of the Paro Valley along the way. Ponies to the halfway point are available on hire at additional cost. The monastery is a must-see and offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into Bhutan’s spiritual heritage.

After your hike, if time permits, you can visit the farmhouse, where you can experience a Traditional Mask Dance and Cultural Show or Traditional Bhutanese Hot Stone Bath or Archery, Bhutan’s national sport, as well. These can be arranged upon prior request.

Today, you'll depart Paro and fly back to Kathmandu. Alternatively, if there’s a direct flight available from Paro to your next destination via Nepal or India, you can opt for that. For those returning to Kathmandu, your stay for the night will/can be at the luxurious Dwarika’s Hotel (optional), where you can relax and unwind.
