Trip Details

All-time classic Everest trek

This is an all-time classic Everest trek itinerary, offering the finest Khumbu experience in the shortest time possible.

Our trip starts with the famous short flight to Lukla airport in the morning. Over the course of this week and a half, we walk through deep, lush valleys, cross spectacular suspension bridges, and climb rugged trails to visit ancient old Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.

Along the way we take time to explore the main villages and attractions, including Namche Bazaar, the main Sherpa trading center in the region, Khumjung with the famous Hillary School established in 1960, and Tengboche with its beautifully preserved Tibetan Buddhist Monastery.

Sunset view from Everest region

We stay in the finest lodges available in the region. Considering the altitude and the remoteness of the area, small everyday conveniences such as hot showers and comfortable beds are a luxury here. You will of course be able to enjoy these services as well as en suite bathroom, heated beds, WiFi, beautiful gardens, 24/7 electricity, and wholesome meals. The lodges are committed to both their social and environmental responsibilities by hiring locally, heating water by solar power, responsible waste management and growing local and organic produce for food.

This is considered an easy trek by Himalayan standards, but do expect some fairly steep ascends and descends. You will be carrying your personal daypack with what you need while trekking (water, an extra jacket, sunscreen, snacks, etc.). Our porters will carry everything else.

Everest comfort trek route

Day 1

On this first day we take a small mountain flight to Lukla, leaving Kathmandu as early as possible. From Lukla, we head straight out on the trail towards Monjo, where we will spend our first evening. On the way, we trek through charming Sherpa villages, and will make frequent breaks to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Dudh Kosi valley.

Day 2-8

The second day of the trek will be the hardest of all our trekking days, with some steep climbs just before Namche Bazaar, gateway to Everest base camp, where we have our lunch, and a stepped path again just before reaching our destination in the afternoon. The path to Namche is well trodden and will be the busiest part of our route. It offers some spectacular crossings of suspension bridges and the first peek at Mount Everest. They key to a successful trekking day today is to walk slowly and enjoy every step.

Over the course of the next week we make a short circuit and visit some of the most well-known Sherpa villages and monasteries in the area, taking in the incredible mountaineering history as well as the local culture and traditions of the area. Taking trails that are less used, we have good chances of encountering birdlife and wildlife along the way. A highlight of the trip is our stay in Pangboche, just below Mount Ama Dablam. Though it is not among the highest peaks, its distinct character makes it one of the most beautiful and loved mountains in the Khumbu region. If you have the time, we highly recommend extending your trip with an extra night spent at Ama Dablam Basecamp (camping) or at the lodge in Pangboche, in order to make a daytrip here.

Day 9

This is a buffer day for extra acclimatization or bad weather conditions. Since guests’ reaction to the altitude is always unpredictable, we keep an extra day for acclimatization in case rest is needed. Similarly, the weather conditions in the mountains are unpredictable, and mountain flights may be cancelled at any moment. We highly recommend that you plan 1-2 buffer days in Kathmandu on either side of the trek in case of domestic flight cancellations and delays.

Day 10

On this final day we leave the mountains behind and fly back to Kathmandu. As mentioned above, please note that flights into Lukla are sometimes delayed. Rest assured that our staff will be doing everything possible to minimize the inconvenience caused in case this happens. Your patience in such circumstances will be greatly appreciated.
