Trip Details

From Mountains
to Jungles

The two week mountain to jungle trip is perfect for a first time visit to Nepal. We will take care of all logistics from transfers and hotel bookings to adventure activities to enjoy in Nepal such as trekking, rafting and jungle safaris. You can enjoy the major destination of Nepal in a care-free way.

The trip starts and ends in Kathmandu, where we make sure that your stay is spent comfortably at the best hotels with plenty of opportunities for sightseeing, shopping, or simple relaxation.

From Kathmandu we fly west to Pokhara, Nepal’s “adventure capital”. This is where you meet your trekking team, who will take you safely and comfortably on a five day trek through the rhododendron forests of the Annapurnas. This is a low-altitude trek, perfect for beginners and families.

Terai land during the Jungle trekking in Nepal

From the trek we continue our venture by raft down the beautiful Seti River. Again, this is an easy rafting trip, which is safe and fun for first-time rafters and children. We enjoy the night camping in nature.

Finally, we reach the southern plains in Nepal, the Terai, where a true jungle adventure awaits. We spend a whole day with elephants and another full day inside the jungle. Join the elephant herd as they walk through the forest and cool down in the river and help the mahouts prepare their fodder. Tiger Tops offers a unique and ethical elephant experience, where activities are based on the elephants’ needs.

Inside Chitwan National Park, we explore nature in the comfort and convenience of one of our classic vintage Land Rovers and from our quiet non-motorized wooden boats.

After all the adventures it’s time to head back to the city in time to reach your international flight.

Itinerary

Day I

When you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our staff will greet you and assist your transfer to Dwarikas Hotel - an exquisite 5 star oasis in the heart of the bustling city.

During the afternoon we are happy to arrange guided tours for those wanting to wander the city and discover the enthralling sights of the capital.

Day 2

Get ready for an early start with a transfer to the domestic airport for an adventurous mountain flight to see Mount Everest. Return to the hotel for breakfast. The morning continues with a sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath and Boudhanath. After lunch we move on to Swayambhunath - the “Monkey Temple”.

Day 3

After a sumptuous breakfast, we take a 25-minute morning flight to Pokhara. On a clear day you can watch the Annapurna Ranges unfold before you from the aeroplane.

We transfer by road with guides and porters to our trek start point. We begin the trek gently, with a fairly short hike into the valley. The trail passes through small hamlets, terraced rice fields and forests with spectacular views of the surrounding valley. We end the day in Birethanti, where we may enjoy the lodge's happy hour before dinner.

Day 4-6

The next three days are spent on trek. This is a gentle trek in Himalayan terms and suitable for first-time trekkers as well as families. We trek three to four hours per day. Along the way we hike through charming villages, encounter the local people, and enjoy the slow-paced lifestyle of the mountains. The views along the way are stunning and you will have plenty of time to lean back and enjoy the scenery every afternoon from the comfortable lodges.

Day 7

After breakfast, we descend through forest and terraced farmland. This day is a very short trekking day, just one and a half hour, and we then transfer by vehicle to the hotel in Pokhara (40 minutes).

Day 8-9

Today, we embark on a two day river rafting adventure on the Seti River. The Seti River is a grade III river, offering a gentle ride with some white water rapids and stunning scenery. We raft for 3-4 hours a day and overnight at a set camp by the river.

From the rafting pick-up point it’s only a two hour drive to our next destination, Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge (a sister company of Mountain Travel Nepal). We recommend a leisurely day by the pool followed by a late afternoon stroll to the Narayani River with our resident elephants for sun downers.

Day 10-11

For the next couple of days enjoy all the safari and elephant activities on offer at the lodge. This includes spending a full day with the elephants, immersed in their daily routines and walking alongside them in the jungle.

Next day prepare for a river safari on the Narayani River. Keep your eyes peeled for a variety of birdlife and wildlife. Top of the list is the endangered fish-eating Gharial crocodile and its more sinister relative, the Marsh-Mugger.

Later in the afternoon meet with our naturalist for a jeep safari in the national park to get a taste of the jungle. During the safari you will encounter wildlife such as different species deer, birds, monkeys, and the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, and hopefully the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger.

Day 12

After breakfast we transfer to Bharatpur airport and fly to Kathmandu. From here our staff will take you to your hotel and you may spend the rest of the day at leisure or maybe for some last minute shopping.

Day 13

Spend the day at your leisure until your transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport and your international flight.
